OnSunday 26thAugust 2012, Pass It On Young Sports returned to the outstandinglypicturesque venue of Jacklands Trout and Coarse Fishery in Tickenhamfor the second time this year to host another of their famous fieldsports taster days. With the sun shining and not a rain cloud insight this taster day promised to be just as successful as any oftheir previous events this year.

PassIt On Young Sports are a non-profit organisation offering childrenand adults alike the chance to try their hand at various traditionalfield sports, learn about conservation, handle owls and ferrets andget to grips with general bush craft skills. Visitors to the tasterdays can spend as long as they want on each activity and can returntime and time again during the day, receiving advice and support fromthe voluntary advisors present. From shooting an airgun to tryingfly fishing an advisor will always be on hand to guide you through. For the more experienced, the advisors are always willing to shareany tips and tricks they have picked up along the way.

Giventhat Pass It On only established themselves last year, support forthe taster days has been growing rapidly. Within minutes of thetaster day at Jacklands opening, a steady stream of regular attendeesand new faces continued to pass through the gates throughout the dayand the advisers found themselves very, very busy loading the airgunswith pellets and untangling fishing line knots!

Aswell as the many hands on activities on offer, visitors could alsolearn about the art of a successful decoy, how to make an attractivewalking stick, tie a fly, handle one of the stunning owls present andcome face to face with a ferret.

"Thisevent has surpassed even my expectations" said Rob Collins,Chairman of Pass It On. "Today's event was a massive success. To my knowledge I know that one young girl, through her grandparentshas now hired a fishing coach so she can take up fly fishing, afather and son are in the process of buying air rifles and I haveput them in touch with a local target air rifle club, 2 lads haveasked to take up ferreting which I am arranging and a young girl andher grandmother have now joined the local archery club. Finally Ihave sorted out a deal on starter kits for coarse fishing at a localshop for several other families".
