A HOLLYWOOD film star comes to Clevedon today to shoot scenes for her latest project.
Keira Knightley is due to be on the pier to film Never Let Me Go, a tragic romance adapted from the Booker-shortlisted novel by Kazuo Ishiguro.
The Beach has been closed to traffic to allow filming to take place throughout the day and part of Alexandra Road has also been closed, with rumours Scruples Exquisite Hats and two other shops will be used for certain scenes.
On Saturday, the top of Hill Road, along with some of the neighbouring residential streets, will also be closed to traffic as camera crews capture the final scenes needed in Clevedon.
A host of celebrities and production companies have used the town's most famous landmark as a backdrop, but Kiera, who starred in Pirates Of The Caribbean, Love Actually and Atonement, is without question the biggest A-list celebrity to have visited the seaside town.
Traders and residents in the Hill Road area were all sent letters informing them that a couple will be filmed walking along the street before peering into a shop window.
They have also been asked to clear the road of cars so vehicle models from the 1990s can be used to make the scene look authentic.
Although some traders feel slight frustration that filming is taking place on the busiest day of their working week, the majority think the film may help to put Clevedon on the map.
Estuary manager Jane Brake said: "We all know that Clevedon is a fab place but now it has been recognised by international film crews.
"Although the top part of Hill Road is going to be closed there is plenty of parking elsewhere and it's just for one day."
John Murray, who owns Murrays Food Shop and Murrays Restaurant, said a generator is being placed outside his shop by film crews at the weekend.
He said: "We are taking it with a smile.
"Saturdays are our busiest day but we will be open.
"When it comes to the parking I would be more interested in having the authorities control it on a daily basis rather than just when film crews come."
According to film websites, Never Let Me Go, which is a co-production between DNA Films, Fox Searchlight and Flim4, with a script by Alex Garland, author of The Beach, is set to be released in 2010.
Starring alongside Kiera Knightley, are Sally Hawkins, Andrew Gardfield, Carey Mulligan, Andrea Riseborough and Charlotte Rampling.
Relocation, Relocation started its new series in Clevedon and used the pier as a backdrop, which features each week at the start of the programme.
