Wincanton is braced for a Pratchett pilgrimage as it prepares for this weekend's annual Hogswatch celebrations.
Fans of Sir Terry Pratchett's fantasy Discworld series are set to travel from far and wide to Wincanton to enjoy the three-day extravaganza.
The weekend's celebrations will also mark the tenth anniversary since Wincanton was twinned with fictional Discworld city Ankh-Morpork.
A civic ceremony will be held in the town hall on Saturday afternoon – with Sir Terry to join mayor Colin Winder and other dignitaries in marking the milestone.
Bernard Pearson, who runs the Discworld Emporium, said: "Once again our town is getting ready to welcome hundreds of people from all over the world.
"We have got fans from the Netherlands, France, South Africa and America all coming – we are all looking forward to it.
"There is no other town in the world that is twinned with a mystical place – something that makes Wincanton truly unique."
The weekend will begin with a Klatchian Nights party at The Bear Inn tonight, which will include a variety of games and talks.
Saturday morning will see a number of activities on offer throughout the town – from a craft market in The Nog Inn to burlesque dancing taster sessions.
Hundreds of Pratchett pilgrims – dressed in traditional attire – will take to the high street at 2pm to take part in the grand parade from Discworld Emporium to Market Square.
This will be followed by the civic reception – with celebrations expected to continue long after the annual Hogswatch sausage supper in pubs across the town from 6pm.
A charity auction will bring the curtain down on the celebrations on Sunday.
Amy Cutts, who runs The Nog Inn, said Hogswatch is one of the town's most memorable weekends of the year.
She said: "It's a great event with a lovely group of people coming here to Wincanton.
"We are all looking forward to it – there is always a nice atmosphere around the town throughout the weekend and Hogswatch really sets Wincanton out from everywhere else.
"It's always a nice way to ease into the Christmas season with everyone enjoying themselves and in great spirits."
