Hinkley may win final approval this year

EDF could make a final decision on its new power station at Hinkley Point by the end of the year. The Office for Nuclear Regulation and the Environment Agency have cleared 18 issues concerning a new reactor to be used at the Somerset site, with 13 remaining. If the information provided is right first time, the regulators might be able to close all of the remaining assessment issues before the end of the year – in time for a decision from EDF Energy on whether to proceed with the project.
