The Glovers somehow managed to escape West Sussex with all three points after repelling wave upon wave of Crawley's incessant pressure. The red devils had numerous chances but just couldn't break down Yeovil's stubborn backline who have been transformed, just three days after shipping goals for fun against Swindon. Marek Stech made some great saves and some excellent last ditch defending were two of the main factors the Green & Whites came away with only their fourth clean sheet in the league this season and their sixth in all competitions.
The game was scrappy and both teams couldn't keep errors out of their play. The atrocious weather conditions didn't help matters and both teams started reverting to long balls to try and break the deadlock.
In the end, despite all the countless opportunities Crawley had to score, it was Yeovil who netted the only goal of the game. Captain Jamie McAllister crossed in a wicked corner that was powered into his own net by defender David Hunt, who had come on just before half time to replace the injured McFadzean.
The two hundred strong Yeovil contingent went wild and from then on, it was just a case of holding on for the final few minutes.
My star man went to Keaun Marsh-Brown, he really worked hard down those flanks and never gave up. His willing and running was exactly what you want to see from a winger.
So the Glovers march on to face Carlisle on Saturday at Huish Park, only four points off the play offs and with wind in their sails.
