Gary Johnson has warned his Yeovil Town players not to treat Bury like “poor relations” if they want to avoid becoming the first team to be beaten by the Shakers.

The Glovers return to Huish Park after midweek penalty success at Torquay United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and having relinquished a 2-0 lead at Tranmere Rovers to lose 3-2 last weekend.

Kevin Blackwell’s Bury head south aiming to seal their opening npower League One victory of the season and add to their paltry five points.

Johnson said: “Everything is a bit new to them as a far as a new manager has come in and a couple of players from Leeds United have come in.

“We have to be prepared for that. Kevin is a decent motivator. He has come in and said they are all garbage and they have picked up a draw when they should have won (against Carlisle United).

“The draw came in the 90th minute and they haven’t won a game. They have sort of got nothing to lose but we have got to make sure we are ready for it and we don’t treat them like a poor relation, because they’re not. We know a couple of in their team that are very competitive and done well for us in Adam Lockwood and Efe Sodje.”

Carlisle striker Paddy Madden is available for the Glovers this weekend after being cup-tied to face Torquay, whilst Bristol City’s Joe Edwards has served a ban for his dismissal at Prenton Park.

However, the game could come too soon for Luke Ayling (hip) and Reading striker Gozie Ugwu (hamstring) is still a week away from returning to Somerset.

“There are things we can leave to the last minute but I don’t see Gozie being anywhere near (fit for the weekend),” said Johnson.

“We were pleased Gavin Williams got a cameo role against Torquay and he looked sharp. I don’t know if he has got 90 minutes in him but we will have to give him that chance at some stage.”
