Yeovil Town's players have been told to improve against npower League One's bigger teams by manager Gary Johnson.

The Glovers slipped to their second 1-0 defeat in as many weekends at promotion-hopefuls MK Dons on Saturday, seven days after being beaten by wealthy AFC Bournemouth.

Substitute Charlie MacDonald scored the only goal of the game in the second half at stadium:MK as Yeovil struggled for fluency in the opening period before failing to capitalise on chances after the break.

Johnson said: "That's why we have to be in there (the changing room) a little while, we have to tell them we are going to have to be better against the better sides, which MK Dons are.

"That's what we have got to do. We have got to keep learning and it takes a big discussion after every defeat to learn what it is we have to improve on.

"They were a very disappointed group of lads because I think at one point we thought we were okay. It's still early doors but it is just we reached the peak (of League One) very early and we are very disappointed that we are not still up there."

Johnson also defended the timing of his substitutions. Instead of making changes at the break with the Glovers struggling and striker Gozie Ugwu on a yellow card, he waited until shortly after the hour to introduce Reuben Reid and Norwich City loan debutant Korey Smith.

"I am always happy," said Johnson. "It might not end up right but you do it at that point for the right reasons and I thought all the lads that came on had a little effect on it.

"In fact, we had a couple of chances. Sam Foley should have scored, Reuben had a chance and Keanu Marsh-Brown had a chance.

"Obviously you can't make decisions in hindsight and managers have to do it at that point and your decision is always right if you make them for the right reasons."
