A flood warning has been issued for a section of River Parrett by the Environment Agency.
The warning covers the section of the river that runs from South Perrott near Crewkerne to Thorney near Langport.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said today: "Up to 25 mm of rain has fallen across the area during the last 12 hours.
"A further 25mm of rainfall is forecast between from this afternoon to 6am tomorrow.
"River levels on the River Parrett at Chiselborough are rising and may peak for a time later this afternoon."
River levels on the River Parrett at Gawbridge are also rising.
