Firefighters tackle paper recycling blaze

A fire at a recycling centre in Bridgwater, Somerset, was tackled by firefighters yesterday morning.

Two crew from Bridgwater responded to the 999 call from the centre, off Showground Road, at 10.20am with report that bales of paper were on fire.

Crews arrived to find that a half-ton bale of paper was smouldering within a compacting machine.

Firefighters used a thatching lance to drag the bale from the machine and used a jet to extinguish the fire.
