Protesting farmers from far and wide are due to gather again at Robert Wiseman Dairy near Bridgwater tonight at 8pm (Sunday) to drive home their milk message.

The protest is being organised by Farmers for Action which is also staging demonstrations at Droitwich and Market Drayton branches of the dairy at the same time.

It follows similar action on Thursday night when 500 farmers drove tractors and other heavy agricultural machinery to create a blockade at the North Petherton dairy.

Robert Wiseman, which is situated just off junction 24 of the M5 motorway, has said it is to cut the amount it pays farmers per litre of milk by around 4p.

Furious farmers say they are now losing money on every litre of milk they sell.

All power to our Dairy farmers! Robert Wiseman and any other Milk processors should be ashamed. I've read elsewhere and on Twitter ill-informed comments that its all down to supply and demand!..Rubbish! Some people need to do a tad research before making these comments. Robert Wiseman have taken a deliberate decision to cut the price they pay their dairy suppliers based purely on competition from the Supermarkets and other processors like Dairy Crest. It makes little difference to their profit margin or their shareholders returns but a huge difference to the dairy Farmer.Make no mistake if our Dairy farmers go bust then we will be flooded by milk from the E.U. Morrisons have joined the CO-OP in increasing the price per litre back to its level pre-June. It remains to be seen if they do cancel the proposed decrease in Milk on the 1st August The fact remains that The cost of milk production at source leaves little or no profit for the Dairy farmers. This coming week will see if the Farm Minister Jim Paice MP has been able to get farmers and processors/Supermarkets to agree on a fair price. Don't hold your breath! Farming is under attack, Egg producers have had to change their operations that have pushed up egg prices and our Pig industry faces similar changes. I hope tonights demostration will be the one that breaks the camels back. Get wise Robert Wiseman, pay a fair price for the Milk!
