Juno Temple, who is a former pupil of King's College in Taunton and Enmore Primary School near Bridgwater, has been crowned the EE Rising Star 2013 at the BAFTAs.
The star of The Dark Knight Rises, Atonement and Killer Joe beat Andrea Riseborough, Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Olsen and Suraj Sharma to win the award, which was the only BAFTA voted for by the public.
Daughter of film director Julien Temple and producer Amanda Temple, Juno lived in Somerset from four years old to in her teens, and was a weekly boarder at King's College.
In accepting the award, Juno thanked her father and her brother, Felix, who apparently persuaded his entire school to vote for her.
Juno has a number of films in the pipeline, with one of the most imminent being Horns, a fantasy horror movie also featuring Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe.
