The Met Office is warning of possible blizzard conditions when further snow is forecast to fall over the South West on Friday.

A severe weather warning has been issued from 9am onwards, and blizzards over higher ground are a possibility as winds are expected to strengthen.

In issuing its early yellow warning for Somerset, the Met Office said between 2cm and 5cm of snow could fall. That could increase to as much as 15cm on higher ground, it added.

The weather warning is expected to be updated over the next few days.
