The incident happened at around 1.30pm on the A371 near the junction of Wyke Lane.
Fire crews from Castle Cary, Wincanton, Yeovil, Exeter and Glastonbury were sent to the scene, along with two air ambulances.
Hydraulic cutting equipment and heavy lifting gear were used to free the driver from the wreckage, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reported. He was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, but his injuries were not serious.
Police believe only the Mercedes cement mixer was involved.
The road was closed for several hours.
