A young motorist apparently escaped unhurt after a car accident in the early hours of the morning in Stroud.
Police said the parents of the 19-year-old driver told them they had taken him home after the crash, which happened shortly before 2am yesterday on the B4008 at Stroud Green, Standish.
Passers-by said that about 20ft of fencing was demolished in the accident, after which the Ford Focus vehicle ended up in a farm field.
Standish residents have long campaigned for a lower speed limit on the accident-plagued B4008.
Chairwoman of their parish council Sue Oppenheimer said: "We would like the speed limit reduced to 40mph. People go far too fast. It is a little country road with lots of bends."
However, the parish council's request to reduce the limit from 50mph has been denied.
