A dog walker received an unexpected surprise yesterday when he wandered into the middle of a 100mph motorcycle race during a Sunday afternoon stroll.
The man and his pet found their way onto the Weston Beach Race straight, where more than 500 off-road riders hit speeds of 100mph as they charge along the seafront.
A race marshal aboard a quad bike was quickly on the scene to assist the man and his dog, and guide them to a safe distance from the action.
Pedestrian access to Weston-super-Mare beach is blocked off for a weekend each year when the race is held. It attracts more than 50,000 fans.
