Dog walker left clinging to riverbank

A dog walker from Yeovil has told how she clung to a rain-swollen riverbank for more than 40 minutes – after falling in while rescuing her pet. Christine Mullis, 26, lost her balance and toppled into the water while trying to pull her beloved English springer spaniel, Bailey, to safety. She was unable to climb the muddy banks despite her mother's attempts to help her and had to wait in the water until the emergency services arrived. Paramedics were first on the scene and used a ladder to get Christine back on to dry land
