Dealer ordered to pay £100,000 to charities

A convicted drug dealer has been told to pay almost £100,000 to local good causes after he was jailed for nearly three years. John Gormley was convicted of conspiracy to sell cocaine after police caught him selling the drug from his car in the car park of Asda in Clevedon, near Bristol, last June. The 50-year-old, from Avonwood Close in Bristol, was jailed for two years and nine months earlier this month and now has been told to pay back his ill-gotten gains. A confiscation court hearing was told Gormley had benefitted from his crimes to the tune of £408,079.
