Absentee landlords who leave 340 homes in Cheltenham empty for long periods are being chased down. Council enforcement teams are being bolstered and hope to bring 23 homes back into use every year, as well as an extra £250,000 to the council's budget. Its current work already brings an estimated 100 homes back into use each year. The council insists that just one more £30,000 job in each of the next three years will have a major impact on beating the issue.
