Two councils are at war over a proposed bus cut that would force some residents to reach one council headquarters by taxi.

Journeys to check planning applications or query council tax could prove much more expensive in the future for some people in the Brympton area of Yeovil.

Somerset County Council is consulting over proposed bus service cuts and the withdrawal of service 11 in Yeovil is one of the options.

The route includes South Somerset District Council offices at Brympton Way, a local branch of Asda and doctors' surgeries.

The council has formally written to Somerset County Council to ask it to think again.

The Liberal Democrat-run district council says the Conservative-run county council's proposal is short-sighted and will cause a significant impact to residents in Brympton.
