A Hugh Sexey student has scored a bullseye in the world of archery by winning the county’s junior championship.

Matt Hudd, who is part of Gordano Valley Archers in Wraxall, has won the boy’s under 13 Somerset County Archery Junior Indoor Championships with a staggering score of 468 – the second highest score in the entire competition.

After winning the club competition last month, Matt was presented with a shield after his win by Larry Godfrey, Great Britain’s number one and three-time Olympian.

His mum said: “We are very proud of his achievements.”

Matt, who fits his training in on a Wednesday and Sunday evening, has said that he would like, one day, to achieve Olympic status.

Hugh Sexey Church of England Middle School, in Blackford, also gave their congratulations and added that the school is proud of their pupil.
