The Taunton community has raised just under £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation by donating 45 bags of items to the charity's Great British Bag-athon event which took place in Orchard Shopping Centre.

The event asked people to donate unwanted clothing, accessories, books, toys, CDs, DVDs and homewares which could go on to be sold in British Heart Foundation shops to help fund life-saving research.

"We are delighted that 45 bags were filled and donated to the Great British Bag-athon and would like to say a big thank you," said Orchard Shopping Centre's Marika Sterry.  "If you weren't able to fill bags for the event in centre, you can still join in by giving bags of items to your local BHF shop."

To find a local BHF shop, call 0844 412 5000.
