Chard, beaten by Bridgwater and Albion last time out, will be looking to bounce back when they play away to Clevedon in a rearranged South West One West game tomorrow.

Chard coach Steve Broome admits he was “embarrassed” by his side’s display in the 38pts-8 away defeat by Albion.

“It was our worst performance in four years,” said Broome, whose team were promoted as champions of Western Counties North at the end of last season.

“But at the same time I have to say Bridgwater did not look like a side near the bottom of the table. But we made things very easy for them.

“We do have some injuries but I don’t want to make that an excuse.

“Those players who came in are perfectly capable of stepping up.

“However, we don’t have a big squad and that’s one of the main reasons we don’t enter the Somerset Cup.”
