Members of a carnival club in Castle Cary are pleading for information after a rented tractor worth £57,000 was stolen.
A blue New Holland tractor used by Cary Comedians Carnival Club is believed to have been stolen between 12.15am and 12.30am this morning.
The tractor, which bears registration number HF11 FSZ, was stolen from the grounds of the Highwayman Inn, Shepton Mallet.
The carnival club had hired the vehicle from Buglers, in Marston Magna, for the duration of the carnival season.
Donna Osmond, treasurer of Cary Comedians Carnival Club, said: "We are doing all of this for charity and someone has taken it away from us.
"It has caused so much stress - we desperately want to get it back."
Mrs Osmond said police have been informed of the incident.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact 01963 440477.
Alternatively contact police at non-emergency number 101.
