A Caribbean-style carnival will fill the streets of Bath with colour this summer.
And the event will be bigger and brighter than ever this year after grant funding from the Arts Council.
Organisers of the Latin-American-themed music and dance spectacular planned for August have been granted £15,000 in lottery cash. The money will be spent on a series of pre-carnival workshops in and around Bath in the two weeks running up to the August 16 event.
The workshops are being run in collaboration with Bath Area Play Project, Percy Community Centre, the Holburne Museum, Super Pirates Holiday Camps and Jamma de Samba. The event, now in its third year, will begin with a host of music and dance performances as well as food stalls in Parade Gardens from 11am. The procession through the centre of Bath will start at 6pm.
