Police are investigating reports of an assault after two women were involved in a dispute over a pint of milk in a Taunton shop.

Officers said an argument broke out between the two women in the Local store on Gladstone Street at around 11.30am on Saturday, December 22.

"A dispute occurred over a pint of milk and the woman assaulted another woman in the store," said an Avon and Somerset Police spokesman.

Investigating officers have released a CCTV image of a woman they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

She is described as white, aged around 30 years old and of a small but stocky build. She had short black hair, spoke with a Birmingham accent and was wearing a navy three-quarter length jacket.

Anyone who recognises the woman, or the woman herself, is asked to call PC Steve Linton on 101, quoting incident number 137535/12.
