A visitor centre on the flood-hit Somerset Levels insists it is business as usual, despite the chaos caused by the past week's severe weather.

The Willows and Wetlands Visitor Centre, near North Curry, has vowed to stay open to visitors and shoppers as long as road access is safe.

It even says the centre provides a safe vantage point for people to view the widespread scenes of flood devastation across the Somerset Levels.

Carla Yerbury, of PH Coate & Son, said: "The flooding is having a bad effect on trade because there is only one route in or out of here at the moment which is the A358 and A378 via Thornfalcon and North Curry.

"A lot of people are ringing assuming we are closed, however we are open as normal.

"People can get here and park safely to view the floods from the top of Windmill Hill. You can see all over Curry Moor and out towards Burrow Mump from this vantage point."

The visitor centre is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
