A reindeer has been born at the Magic Moments Animal petting farm, in Norton St Philip, and its owners believe he is the first of his kind to be born in the area.

The reindeer, called Blizzard, pictured left, was born last week and his owner, Sparky, is delighted.

Sparky said: "We started children's parties a few months ago, but have had the herd of reindeers for the last two years.

"Blizzard is our first calf born and we are absolutely delighted with the little fellow. He is a quiet little chap and stays close to his mum, Tinkerbell, but he is only a few days old so we expect that."

This month, eight German micro-pigs have also been born at the farm, which is a part of Springleaze Farm shop.

Sparky added: "We are really pleased with all our newborns. Our breeding programmes are going well. It's all very exciting."

The farm also has llamas, pigmy goats, a donkey and two barn owls.
