Axbridge resident, who escaped Soviet troops during Hungarian uprising, died this morning, aged 83.

Josef Vizi passed away early this morning, 15 hours after completing on the sale of his home in readiness of moving back to Hungary on Tuesday, to finish his old age at home.

Joe Pitarella, of Kings Estate Agents, said: "I saw him yesterday and he seemed fine and it comes as a great shock to me and it has to Axbridge and all the people who knew him.

"Joe was very well known in the town as a character and as a respected member of the community.

"I have know him for only six years and have acted for both him and his son in selling homes but had actually become friendly with him in 2009 whilst working in the town."
