Artificial surf reef reopens after a long break

Europe's first artificial surf reef has finally reopened – some three years after it was closed due to safety fears. Sandbags that make up the £3.2 million reef off Boscombe, near Bournemouth, were damaged by speedboat propellers in 2011. Mark Smith, from Bournemouth Borough Council, said he was 'delighted' the reef was operational again
