FAMILIES and schoolchildren turned out in force to help the Woodland Trust create a new wood near Alhampton.
Children from Oaklands Community Primary and Keinton Mandeville Primary schools planted just under 100 trees at Haddon Wood. They took part in environmental education games including treasure hunts and making clay animals.
850 trees were planted on the following day by about 60 members of the local community and the rest of the area was planted up by local contractor Matt Peaster and Co the following week.
Woodland Trust site manager, Tim Russell, said: “We had a great turnout over the three days we were planting trees and everyone who attended was incredibly enthusiastic.”
